I was picking up my cable equipment at the Time Warner office and passed by the Halal Cart on South East corner of Broadway and 23rd St. Lately when I pass him, his eyes widen up and greets me like we haven’t seen each other in a long time. I do remember going to his cart more often way back in the day, but that was years ago and I can’t believe he still remembers me. It’s like when the fruit cart guy on the NW corner knew I liked dates. Well, I bought dates three days in a row. Then the next time, he didn’t have them. I didn’t see him until a week later and he yelled out to me that he has dates, but I didn’t want any. Â Then a year passes and he yells “dates!”. Maybe even more creepy was the time, I was stumbling around the city and right when I put my hand up for a cab, a cabbie skid right up to me and tells me my own address. Maybe it was stupid of me to jump into that cab, but I figured at least he knew how to get where I was going.
This $5 Mixed Platter is one heaping awesome garbage plate …and I mean that in the kindest sense. Fries, falafel, lamb, chicken, peppers, onions, carrots, seasoned rice, salad, white sauce/hot sauce. It was already spilling out on the sides and the cart man asked if I wanted more rice. There some herb in there that freshens up the meat. Very filling. I can’t wait until I run into this halal cart man again.
BTW, cable TV is supposed to have a picture, right?

This looks unbelievably delicious. This type of meal usually kills me the next day, but it tastes so damn good at 1am.
