Pre-Valentines Noodle

Dance party with Anthony because it’s Tuesday. He made me some pretty tasty noodles with garlic, olive oil, zucchini, and parmesan cheese. Dang pretty good for noodles without spaghetti sauce. We went to a dance party at APT in the Meat Packing District where his friend was DJing. I think it has to do with this Ladies Lotto. They gave me a bunch of stickers. We knew it was a pre-Valentine themed party, but we really didn’t know until we got there. All of sudden where I was confident with my swagger, I started to become nervous with all the pressure. You see I don’t know if I can handle girls who expect to be picked up. I usually like to trick and manipulate them into liking me with my hair. …I almost felt like I had to do a song and dance. It would’ve been Kenny Rogers’ “Lady”.

They had vegan cookies, so all the conversations with girls were about how sugar can be vegan. You guys can take that pickup line. I’m done with it.

On the way home, I just missed the L train. It was going to be another 23 mins until the next one. I decided to go back up and get some sweet vanilla body wash and a 7-layer burrito. I ran into my third floor neighbor Margaret. Coincidentally I ran into another friend Margaret on the way there.  Anyway on the trip back, I was trying to figure out why I got Taco Bell. She said “Of course. You do it for sport.” I can’t believe how well she knows me.

APT – 419 W 13th St. New York, NY 10014 …I did have a good time.
Don’t forget our Bloody Valentine B-day Food Party this Friday Night!

…..I’m seriously obsessed with this song since I saw it on the Time Life infomercial a few days ago.

Comedy and Karaoke …bringing back 2003 memories

Monday night was a crazy fun. First stopped in for happy hour at Cake shop then went to Adam Lowitt’s comedy night at Pianos. UF represent. Ran into my friend Alex Castle. He makes some funny videos on his site. He suggested getting what he was having …the Red Wine Burger and request some red wine sauce on the fries. That sauce is awesome. So good.

Demetri Martin performed at Adam’s show. This guy’s is going to be huge. He’s going to star in a new Ang Lee movie (I don’t know much about it, but sounds like Brokeback 2) and his new TV series premieres tonight on Comedy Central. A little known fact: I had a bit part on his TV show he made for the BBC years back. I didn’t even know my character had a name until I saw it on IMDB. But they have my name mixed up with another Jason Lam who played Chinese Man #7.

Christa and Jody were still hungry so we went to San Loco. I got the Pork PeePee. It’s spelled Pork Pipian, but I swear it’s pronounced Pork PeePee. At least they understand what I’m talking about every time I say it. I made sure we had stupid sauce.

Then back in the burg for Sam Jayne’s new Monday night Karaoke at Legion. That was a lot of fun. I sang Highway Star with Sam. When I got home, I noticed all this lint on my clothes. I figured it was from the bar. It made me reluctant to go again, but then I realized that no one is making me roll around on the floor.

Dim Sum Dance Party

Went out with Anthony thinking it was bros’ night out, Streets of Rage style. Double Dragon. Went to Carolyn’s Friday night mixer at the Rubin Museum. We split 2-for-1 blue cocktails with candy at the bottom. Soon turned into ladies’ night out. Hopped over to 169 bar for pool and pbrs. Then pork buns at the Chinese bakery. I think the buns get cheaper when you get there at closing and stare at the buns and say nevermind. Then a dance party at 88 Palace dim sum restaurant under the Manhattan Bridge at East Broadway. So weird it’s in a Chinese dim sum restaurant, but makes a lot of sense for the food blog. Had a ton of fun. I was like Swayze x4 on the dance floor. Although friends kept coming up to dance with me while I was dancing with someone. After the fifth interruption, the girl walked away. I was like Zach Braff x3.

Update: Jill and Carolyn swear they saw Bjork in line for the bathroom at the dance party. I wonder if was really her or a small china lady making dumplings for the next morning.

Tiggers & Monchichis at the Deli Mag party

We played the Deli magazine show at Public Assembly (formerly Galapagos). Went next door for a bite. I really like this burger. It’s seasoned. I haven’t had a well seasoned burger before in NY. I’m so used to a good regular patty. It’s really good. You get a free pbr with it during happy hour.

Vice Mag Party @ Warsaw

Rocco invited us to the party. Had a lot of fun. Got to finally check out the Warsaw and the pierogies. 5 dollar for the Warsaw Special. A little bit of everything Polish -kielbasa, peirogies, hunter’s stew. Great deal.

I’ve realized I like talking to strange girls about Tim Tebow and dreamboards.

Graham Ave is bumpin

New things happening near the Graham L stop. A new Thai restaurant just opened. Checked out Mother’s bar and got a bison burger. I saw something catch on fire and turned around. It was the Basement Band. Flame broiled. After a stop at Legion, we went and got slices at Carmines. Best in the neighborhood. They are expanding next door. One time we ordered delivery a while back and Carmine’s son was carrying around a baseball bat for protection. Mama Mia. I guess you need to in case you run into that crackhead who always asks for 60cents.

Kyotofu

Yoshie organizes another Ramen & Friends outing at this dessert bar that also has savory dishes. The chicken & tofu sliders taste just like White Castle, but in a good way that makes you think they’re awesome. One time Rusty made some plain egg noodles with butter and coriander seeds. It tasted just like McDonald’s breakfast sausage but it was awesome maybe because it did.

Afterwards I meet up at Grace’s office going away party at Slate. Then headed over to Bar 13, but instead headed for the border.
