Eating at a Mets Game

We all got free tickets to the Mets vs Marlins opening weekend. I guess they weren’t selling, so they were giving them away. Actually all our tickets were in different sections. But because there were so many empty seats, we easily just chose to sit together.

Jody came over with a burger, fries and coke that was $17. I was like fuck. I guess that makes sense, since my Bud Light was $11.

I went to get my meal during the 3rd inning. I ran into an open food area that had a Pat LaFrieda’s Filet Mignon Steak Sandwich stand. $15 for the sandwich and the cashier warned me it would be 10-15mins. I said cool.

The cashier asked me to stand over to the right side to wait. The girl behind me in line thought the cashier was talking to her. Then she was like, “oh, she means her (pointing to me).” She thought I was a girl. But I think she realized I was a dude right when she said that.

I thought it would be embarrassing for her when she came over to wait with me. But instead she stood in front of me against the counter. I figure that was fine, but turns out there were no order numbers. The guy was just putting out sandwiches as they came. So that first sandwich that was mine, she grabbed and touched it and was like “oh, we have three more sandwiches.” So while she was standing there with that lone sandwich that belonged to me, I had to wait another ten minutes for them to bring out more. And she couldn’t leave either because she didn’t have her full order. Why didn’t she just give me that sandwich? Then I could leave and eat? I hated her so much. I was so pissed, I couldn’t enjoy the sandwich. Anyway, it kinda sucked.

I spent $37 on two beers and a sandwich that I didn’t like. Now I can see why those tickets were free. They can totally make their money off concessions. Well the free pickles at the toppings bar are pretty good.

Then it got so cold and windy. Everyone was leaving. We left too. Turned out it was an exciting game with a 9th inning comeback victory for the Mets. I don’t think I really cared.

Oyster Roast – NY Food Film Festival 2012

Dang, I had a great time at the NY Food Film Festival once again. Strengthened relationships and made many new friends. Everyone really stepped it up this year on their films. But it sure is worth submitting. If you get your film in, the parties (screenings) you get to attend are so awesome. It concluded with an Oyster Roast in Williamsburg. I loved it. The Bulls Bay Oysters are so good.

Other things I really liked at the festival —Brooklyn Star Fried Pig Tails, Wild Hibiscus Flowers stuffed with Goat Cheese, and Saxon and Parole Fried Oysters.

Congratulations to all the filmmakers and the festival crew for continually making my life a party. Thank you.

Goodbye Blue Monday

We had a show with our friends Leamers (from Montreal) at Goodbye Blue Monday the other night in Bushwick. I remember walking by this place with Justin one time for brunch. We walked in and it was a pretty dingy bar. It seemed weird to eat brunch there in a dark place on such a nice sunny day. That’s when we kept walking and ended up at this awesome West African restaurant. But now that’s it’s cold and night time, it’s makes better sense to eat here.

I split a Burger and Fries (with Salad) with Anthony. I was stacked tall. Pretty decent burger. Not bad at all. I’m not scared to eat here anymore.

There was a stand-up comedy show that preceded us. One guy looked like Eli Manning.

The Lovin’ Cup Cafe – The Goddess Sandwich

Had this a few weeks back when Justice of the Unicorns played at Cameo Gallery, in the back of the Lovin’ Cup. I don’t think they have those awesome happy hour wings like they used to, but the still have tator tots.

I got the Goddess Sandwich (avocado, hummus, apple & basil on honey multigrain with balsamic vinaigrette $9) with tators. It seemed like the healthiest thing on there. Pretty decent sandwich.

The Lovin’ Cup Cafe - 93 N 6th St (btwn Wythe & Berry) Brooklyn, NY 11211

I finally pulled out a keytar at a show for the first time.  I bought so many. It was time to play them. I’ll play one again this Thursday (10/11/2012) at Goodbye Blue Monday in Bushwick with Leamers.

NY Food Film Festival 2012

Oh man, the NY Food Film Festival is coming soon in October. I got a short film in it –“Deep Fried Tofurky: A Thanksgiving Miracle” during the Food Porn Party night. From what I remember last year, these screenings are awesome. They give you food and all you can drink. It was a big party.

It seems like it’s pricey, but it’s kind of worth it if you are taking a hot chick on a date. You both will definitely get drunk with me and Rusty.

And right now, there’s a special discount code you can have: Film33maker –for 33% off until Friday 9/14 7pm. After, it’s good for 25% off. There’s only a limited number of discounted tickets, so you have to get them soon.

Again, my screening is the Food Porn Party. But from what I know from last year’s Chicago Food Film Festival, the Oyster Roast the day after is really rad. That’ll probably be the best night. All you can eat roast Bulls Bay oysters and drinks. I’ll probably have to call in sick the next day.
