“Crooked” Hillary $3 Chocolate Bar
Diana picked this gem up at the local grocery store. It’s a chocolate bar made to look like a $3 bill with Hillary Clinton on it. I guess because it’s to show she is as crooked as a $3 bill. But do they mean to also say she will be elected President of the United States of America? …Because she is on the bill.
It tasted like cheap rubbery milk chocolate you get in Easter bunny-shaped candy.
Sam brought these in for Taste Tuesdays. Looks like a box of a bottle of sake. Inside is filled with Kit Kat minis.
They were white chocolate Kit Kats with a hint of sake smell and flavor. It actually has 0.8% alcoholic content.
I wonder how many you have to eat before you get a buzz. I’m sure there is some math that could figure it out. I should ask Sam. He’s Asian.
Sam brought in all four of this year’s Lay’s Do Us A Flavor flavor finalists: New York Reuben, Greektown Gyro, West Coast Truffle Fries, Southern Biscuits & Gravy.
Here are my thoughts…
New York Reuben: Had a bit of rye bread flavor. Not sure I like rye bread. Why does anyone like rye bread?
Greektown Gyro: They were going for a Tzatziki sauce flavor. Kind of tastes like sour cream and chives chips, which is classic.
West Coast Truffle Fries: The group thought it smelled like dog food. I concur. I can see where they were going with some kind of truffle aroma, but I liked this the least.
Southern Biscuits & Gravy: Tastes like southern gravy with sausage. My favorite out of the group.
Hungry Uncle’s Bajan BBQ Sauce
I got a bottle of Hungry Uncle’s Bajan BBQ Sauce to sample. It’s inspired by the Caribbean/Barbados. You can smell and taste the rum in it. It’s interesting. Has a ketchup-y taste.
It works well with the chicken I ate it with. I even liked to kick it up a notch mixing it with Barbadian-style Hot Yellow Pepper Sauce. Blended nicely.
Exo Cricket Protein Bars
I’ve never eaten crickets before. Always wanted to. But in this case I got to try it in a protein bar made from cricket flour. What is cricket flour? It’s grounded up dried crickets.
What did this protein bar tastes like? Doesn’t taste like what I thought crickets tasted like. It tasted like a regular protein bar, but a lot easier to eat than those old school chewy protein bars. Also with some good flavors like the Blueberry Vanilla and Peanut Butter & Jelly.
The cool thing about these Exo bars is that they are environmentally conscious. Turns out crickets are great protein ethically and sustainably. According to their website:
Insects have marginal environmental impact. They produce virtually no methane, reproduce extremely quickly, and require minimal feed, water and space. It is estimated that crickets are 20x more efficient to raise for protein than cattle.
Pretty cool.
Crickets bars don’t taste weird. No need to be scared to eat crickets!
They also gave me a coupon code for 25% off to share with you: MIGHTYSWEET
I got these four cans of Campbell’s Chunky Soups -Beef with Country Vegetables, Savory Pot Roast, Sirloin Burger with Country Vegetables, and Salisbury Steak with Mushrooms and Onions. Then I realized, “Wait, aren’t these all the same soup?”
Well, I’ve tried them all. The Sirloin Burger and the Salisbury Steak are made from grounded up beef, shaped into chunks. The Beef with Country Vegetables and the Pot Roast are actual chunks of beef, to which you can see the muscle fibers when you bite into it. The Salisbury Steak also has mushrooms.
So yes, they are all basically the same soup with beef and vegetables.
Dimples Spicy BBQ Sauce
I tried out some of Dimples Spicy BBQ Sauce. Opened the bottle and it smelled like McDonald’s BBQ Sauce, but tasted sweeter. I wasn’t sure about that at first, but I kept pouring more and more onto my plate to eat with my rotisserie chicken. I imagine it’d be pretty good sauce to bake onto your meats.
