Started off the evening with dinner at Monster Sushi. A tad more expensive than the couple of other sushi restaurants in the area. A lot of British businessmen talking business on their Blackberrys. The place has Godzilla toys along the walls. I got a Godzilla roll (spicy tuna with avocado and flying fish roe on the outside) which was alright and one uni (sea urchin), that always reminds me of my old VCR back in 1982 Winter Park, FL. But the machinery aroma was very subtle here. Does that mean it is fresher or better?

Then got tickets (thanks to Cristina) at 92YTribeca to see a PFFR film screening, the guys who made Wonder Showzen. Then somehow ended up in the concert room where Nicole Atkins and the Sea was playing. The place is really nice. I had come to actually scout the venue –I’m going to host a Spinal Tap Sing-along on December 19th. Mark your calendars and get ready to foil wrap your cucumbers.

Then ended up at La Bella Mariella II pizzeria, which was recently renamed from Better Fellas, shortly after it was Vinny Vella’s. I asked for the Broccoli Pinwheel Roll, which I was pronouncing it “Bracciole” when I was thinking it was “Broccoli Rabe.” The pizza man must have thought I was really stupid for not being able to pronounce “broccoli.”
