Smorgasboat Party Cruise

I got on the Smorgasboat Party Cruise, from the people of Smorgasburg. It was only $45 ($20 of which is tax deductable). So it’s kinda like $25 for all you can eat and drink and vomiting.

Plenty of food for everyone. Most of it was small plates from some of the Smorgasburg vendors –Asia Dog, BK Salsa, NY Naturals, Pig & Egg, Sunday Gravy and some wings, pulled pork sliders, etc. Big rush for the food when we were boarding. I took my time with the drinks and no time later, the lines subsided.

I learned my lesson about boats last year when I went on Jody and Christa’s bachelor/ette deep sea fishing party. I threw up 16 times within 4 sessions. I don’t think those bracelet things work. I made sure to prepare and took 2 Dramamines an hour before the boat. I rather be drowsy on a party boat than sick out of my mind. It did well. I didn’t get sleepy until way after when I passed out from all the drinks when I got home.

Luckily I ran into some friends to keep me company. Also made some new friends and got invited to a birthday party tomorrow night. I forgot their names though. The after party rooftop was pretty. All in all, this party cruise was awesome. The tickets sold out quick. So know that next time. They said they are planning to have more.

Bushwick Boat Titanic Chill-Out Party

Secret boat party or not-so-secret crowded boat party? They don’t tell you where it is. So you get on a shuttle van that takes you to the boat. I thought they were going to blindfold us. We got there on the early side. It was quite pleasant to hang out drinking a beer on the deck floating on shallow smelling water amongst the industrial warehouses and the polluted night sky glow. It had a surreal feel to it.

I bought a homemade cheese tamale on the ship with some green chili sauce. Well done for being on an old ferry boat. Some guy walked up to me later and covertly asked me if I wanted to buy a tamale. I told him I just had one. I was wondering why he was so quiet about it and why he called it molly for short.

The bass from the dance music on the 2nd level resonated the boat so much, I really felt like I couldn’t control my bowels. I think they hit the brown note. I was scared.

I ran into some friends, one of which was actually performing this night with his band, Clinical Trials. Pretty cool. And as I look up this party right now, I see Miho Hatori (Cibo Matto) performed too. Dang, I wish I knew. I must’ve been on the dance floor at that time, figuring I could get away from the brown note by being closer to the music.

I had half of Todd’s cheeseburger from the grill. Surprisingly it wasn’t from the freezer, but hand pattied seasoned with onions. Most things usually taste good after a few drinks, but this burger was juicy.

Video of Miho Hatori playing on the boat. Some guy dances up on her around 2:30 and she punches him.

Frying Pan on the Hudson

After work Summer time drinks with friends from work at the Frying Pan barge & boat located on the west side of Manhattan. A beautiful day for food and drinks on the water. After one drink, I felt pretty tipsy and then remembered that I was on the water. It gets crowded pretty quickly after work, so best to get you a bucket of Coronas and sit back. You order your food with any of the bartenders and then wait to look for your number like kino to pick it up at the food counter. It’s all pretty looking food, but pretty average tasting. They do have all the condiments to make your own fancy sauce. I did a ketchup, mayo, cock sauce (Sriracha) combination. It makes everything taste better, except strawberries. I don’t know why I even tried that. I enjoyed myself out there. Great summertime spot. Thanks for setting this up, Kristen.
