McDonald’s Southern Style Chicken Sandwich

So you know I like the $1 (or so) Hot & Spicy McChicken Sandwich. I decided to finally try the Southern Style Chicken Sandwich. I remember I kind of like Chick-fil-a. And this McDonald’s sandwich is supposed to be a rip-off of it. If you guys don’t know, there’s no real Chick-fil-a in NYC …except for the tiny express store in an NYU food court, but I think you need a student ID to get in. Lame.

Anyway, SeriousEats said the McDonald’s Southern Chicken Sandwich is pretty tasty compared to Chick-fil-a. The last time I had one was last year. But I kind of don’t remember really. So this McDonald’s was alright. I don’t think it was amazing. Decent. But I think I like the Hot & Spicy McChicken more! I know the McChicken is some kind of re-pressed meat, but I think it tastes better. And it’s a better deal. $4.29 vs $1.69 plus tax. Dang, I might get a Hot McChicken tomorrow.

The Spicy Chicken Sandwich @ Chick-fil-A

Day 8 of the Shonali tour: Yes, we were down South and had to get Chick-fil-A. It was Matt’s first. I had to try their Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Yes, a really great chicken sandwich.

Our cashier/server in Colhoun, GA was like a clean cut Justin Beiber. Hair combed perfectly and manners to match.

Pretty happy about this sandwich after having to miss our plane a couple years ago for trying to find the Chick-fil-A in the Atlanta airport. We didn’t know every one of their stores close on Sundays. Surprisingly, even the one in the airport.

I noticed that they had a calendar for Spirit Night on the table. I just looked it up. It’s a way to get your school/organization to fundraise by getting people into the restaurant and getting back a portion of the proceeds. Pretty smart. Everyone probably eats Chick-fil-A down there anyway.

Free Chick-fil-A in NYC July 9th!

Friday July 9th is Cow Appreciation Day and Chick-fil-A is giving away 750 chicken sandwiches in NYC 10am-1pm on their double decker bus. Follow their Twitter for hints. Or I guess you can find them exactly on FourSquare. Here’s hoping I get lucky and it’s right outside my work on an air conditioned sidewalk. Otherwise, I’m going to have to redeem that NYU Chick-express sandwich my roommate owes me.

UPDATE: 1st 300 sandwiches at Natural History Museum @ 11am. Show up early for tickets. And probably a stop in Midtown.

Everyone else outside of NY, you can dress up as a cow at your Chick-fil-A. Fully dressed gets a free meal. Partially dressed gets a free entree. You can download and printout some masks on their site – http://www.cowappreciationday.com/

…thanks Toddles for the tip!

Free Chick-fil-A Spicy Chicken Sandwich Premiere

From May 31 – June 5, Chick-fil-A is offering a tasting of their new Spicy Chicken Sandwich before it’s officially added to their menu. Make a reservation at http://www.getspicychicken.com

Still plenty of reservations available at the store nearest me (which is still so far). I’m thinking about renting a car just for this. I’ve done crazier things for Chick-fil-A, like missing my plane looking for it at the Atlanta airport. Little did I know they close on Sundays.

Thanks Todd for the link.
