SHAC Pilot Shoot

Yesterday, I spent the morning on my friends’ (The Variety SHAC) comedy pilot shoot for IFC. It looks like it’s gonna be awesome and star-studded (including a famous food blogger in the background). I split a bacon, egg & cheese sandwich with Fred Armisen. I think he liked it. I thought it could use some mayo. That, donuts and coffee for the morning craft services. Then the table turned into snacks from Trader Joe’s –an array of cookies, fruits and energy bars. For lunch, big trays of Italian and Mexican food that smelled like Chinese take-out in the hallway.

And today, I was just picking up some blood sausages for tonight and happen to pass by Daniella’s Coffee Shop Diner which was shut down for some production crew. And then I saw my friends dressed as cops with mustaches in the window. Rusty said he did see a TV crew in his way when he was trying to come back from C-Town and wondered what assholes were shooting in there. Funny.

Joell Ortiz & The Kickdrums video shoot

On set for Rik Cordero’s video for a song from his upcoming movie Inside a Change by Joell Ortiz and The Kickdrums …right down the street from my apt at the Cooper Housing Projects. The outdoor common area was cool. Benches, chess tables, at least three playgrounds. Imagine if us hipsters had a common area like that. I guess that’s called Williamsburg/Bushwick.

A lot of hospitality from the residents. Grilling out, putting the mustard on my dog. One booty girl tried to get Rusty to go up and smoke a blunt with her. A lot of meat and drinks from Western Beef. It was a once in a lifetime experience hanging in the projects.

I put together the backing band for the video. I was really impressed …with myself (j/k). I didn’t know how it was going to go without everyone never ever meeting or practicing. Great job guys. You did awesome.

Rik is nominated for this year’s BET Video Director of the Year. Check it out Sunday June 28th, hosted by Jamie Foxx.

Q-Tip Music Video

On set with Rik Cordero’s Q-Tip video, the day after he just shot Busta Rhyme’s video. Very cool how big time he’s getting. I come by to pluck some hot bass lines on Dan’s upright and tear up craft services. This studio in Greenpoint is pretty neat. There’s all these different rooms for shooting …castle, geisha, robinson crusoe and most of them had jacuzzis. I feel like you can make a scary wax museum movie …or a sexy wax museum movie.

Getting makeup done is pretty sweet. Shiho, the makeup girl gives me a very nice facial massage with some silky moisturizer. It wasn’t as nice when I realized everyone else got one.

The shoot is fun. Got to play dress up. There’s a cute girl that I’ve met before who I sincerely asked if she was in the adult film industry. She turned red. I’m not so sure if that’s a good pickup line. Well her and Freddy play Native American Indians in this Q-Tip video. Someone asked Freddy if he was going to go shirtless. He got embarrassed. I turned to the girl and asked her if she was. Again, maybe not a good pickup line.

Q-Tip – new album “The Renaissance” out now!
