Starlight Six Drive-In Theatre (Atlanta, Georgia)

Day 6 of the Shonali Bhowmik tour: Suzy and Vickie picked me up to go to my first Drive-In. A double feature —Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark and Fright Night. It was really cool. You can get out of your car and drink. I got a Corn Dog and a Chili Cheeseburger (where the chili was squirted into a little ketchup cup). I don’t really know why I ordered all this and why I finished it.

Righteous Room (Atlanta, Georgia)

Day 6 of Shonali Bhowmik Tour: Got a beer and watched Shonali eat this Grilled Rosemary Chicken Wrap. I didn’t think it looked like anything special, but it tasted pretty good.

Eats (Atlanta, Georgia)

I’ve posted snippets from the road, but now I’m ready to share our full-on adventures and photos from our Shonali Bhowmik 100 Oak’s Revival tour down South…

Day 6: We made it to Atlanta and unloaded our crap into the Highland Inn hotel. I asked the cute girl at the front desk where’s a good place to eat that’s a dump. She told me about her favorite place called Eats that she’s gone to since she was 9. Jerk Chicken, Turkey Meatloaf, southern sides and beer. Sold.

I got the Turkey Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes, Black Eyed Peas and Broccoli Casserole. That cheesy Broccoli Casserole was fucking good. We got stuffed.

Eats – 600 Ponce de Leon. Atlanta, GA 30307

I think my phone took a photo of a ghost in the hotel. Or maybe it’s some weird reflection of me in the mirrors? I sorta look like that in the morning.

Boiled Peanut Stand (Georgia)

I’ve posted snippets from the road, but now I’m ready to share our full-on adventures and photos from our Shonali Bhowmik 100 Oak’s Revival tour down South…

Day 6: Someone in between Savannah and Atlanta, we stopped for gas and across the street was a lone Boiled Peanut & Peaches stand. $4 for 32oz styrofoam cup of hot boiled peanuts. Dang good.

I can’t figure how to get the GPS to work on my new camera. So don’t know where exactly this was. Dang.

J. Christopher’s (Savannah, Georgia)

I’ve posted snippets from the road, but now I’m ready to share our full-on adventures and photos from our Shonali Bhowmik 100 Oak’s Revival tour down South…

Day 6: Morning to hit the road towards Atlanta. We stopped for coffee and ended up getting breakfast to go at J. Christopher’s …it’s like a Southern version of Denny’s. I was going to order a Doggie Bag off the menu because it sounded really good. I didn’t realize it was really for a dog. So I got the Big Bubba (Biscuits & Gravy, Eggs and Cheese Grits). Sounds good, but I still should’ve gotten a Doggie Bag.

Wes’ Fish Fry (Savannah, Georgia)

I’ve posted snippets from the road, but now I’m ready to share our full-on adventures and photos from our Shonali Bhowmik 100 Oak’s Revival tour down South…

Day 5: We got the day off in Savannah and cooled off in the neighborhood pool.

This is Scott & Tracy’s little kid…

Even better in slow motion with the audio turned up!

Then came back to Wes’ place where he threw an awesome fish fry and traded ghost stories. Looking at the last couple of pics, Matt and I had a little too much to drink.

Day 5: We made it through the Savannah party night. Matt, Jill and I went for breakfast/lunch at Clary’s. Freshly made Corned Beef Hash …spiced up so it tasted sorta like summer sausage. On our way out, I stared at the giant eclairs.

Sweet Melissa’s (Savannah, Georgia)

I’ve posted snippets from the road, but now I’m ready to share our full-on adventures and photos from our Shonali Bhowmik 100 Oak’s Revival tour down South…

Day 4: Savannah! After our show with amazing The Fourth Ward Afro-Klezmer Orchestra, we partied hard at Wes’ bar, HangFire. Dang, I hadn’t been at a dance party like that in maybe 6 years. That place was bumpin. People spilling out onto the street. Oh yeah, you can drink on the street in a plastic cup.

Next door is Sweet Melissa’s. They must be cleaning up from all the party people. I went in there three times by myself and with friends …and each time I saw a different drunk person passed out along the stools.

When I first walked in, a guy with a big gut yelled at me that I should get the Grilled Cheese. He was right. That was damn good in that moment. Shonali’s burger was a monster for $5.
