Kate’s Birthday and a Giant Ass Steak

Rooftop birthday for Kate on Jenny and Brian’s rooftop. The most amazing piece of beef steak and ham steak I’ve ever seen –from the Meat Hook. Really impressive. I need to get me one of these. A couple of the butchers from the shop came later to the party. I’ve told them how I was intimidated to buy stuff there because all their meat look too good for me to touch. But they seem really nice and willing to to help people out with cooking tips. Maybe they should see how I cooked up these tofu dogs first.

Mario & Sons’ Ribeye Steak

I’ve been planning on cooking up some mean steak with Matt this week, but I couldn’t wait any longer. Grabbed some nice one-inch bone-in ribeyes from Mario & Sons. Mario cut them himself and they were perfect. Put some olive oil, salt and pepper and threw them on the grill. Delicious. Only thing is that we tend to overcook our meat on the grill here, whereas I know Matt likes it on the bloody side. So that’s going to be a different experience. The other mistake on our grill is trying not to flip the steak onto the veggie patties. I think we need to buy tongs.

Bonus for grilling out back: You can get the party on the roof to throw you an empanada.

Veggie Grill Packet

Amazing weather up here in NY finally. At the moment, we’re grilling up these little packets of vegetables my friends Ryan and Meghan showed me years ago. Just foil packets of mushrooms, peppers, onions, etc with salt, pepper, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Close them up and throw them on the grill alongside your meats. So easy for some steamed delicious veg.
