I’m proud to announce my band Justice of the Unicorns’ new album Animals Will Be Stoned hits store shelves today. The amazing cover was painted by the legendary Boris Vallejo. It’s available in physical and digital on Amazon, iTunes, eMusic, etc. You’ve been a part of the journey of this album through my food blog. I hope you enjoy it.

Two different friends this week told me that The Commodore in Brooklyn has the best fried chicken they’ve ever had. They ain’t kidding. I got some friends to meet there for happy hour. The fried batter was so light and mix that in with the honey butter and hot sauce …hot dang. The Hot Fish Sandwich with spicy fried fish topped with cole slaw was amazing. I gobbled it up so quick because I didn’t want to share no more.
Then we headed over to Good Company, where Sam Jayne was taping his “Hi Mom, I’m on the Sam Jayne Show” –a television variety show filmed in a bar before a live studio audience. He kills two birds with one stone by bartending and hosting a show at the same time. I took a lot of photos with my new Canon EOS T2i DSLR camera I got this afternoon. What you think? I had a difficult time with the 50mm f/1.8 lens, only because I had to be like ten feet away from the food to get it in frame. But luckily this means I can take photos of other people’s food from another table.
After, Rusty and I headed back to The Commodore to give Yasmin (my ex and ex-bandmate) a Justice of the Unicorns shirt. She made us a coconut tiki drink. Russ invited her back into the band. I wonder if that means I’m kicked out.
We ended up at Carmine’s II where we saw Carmine. I think we had too much to drink because Rusty told Carmine the same thing ten times and tried to pay twice. They got a real nice backyard there. Then back home, Rusty modeled a bunch of different Justice of the Unicorns shirts that his friend JB (American Crossroads Apparel) made for us. Not just shirts, but skirts, aprons, negligee and a karate outfit. They are badass.

San Loco’s Gringo-Mex Enchiladas
Justice of the Unicorns was to play a few songs at Adam’s monthly comedy night (It is It) at Pianos last Monday. I totally forgot and had planned to go to the Faith No More concert. But it all worked out after I traveled all the way to the Time Square box office to find it was closed for the weekend and then come back home to find that tickets were sold out. I figured the Metal Rap Gods had something else in store for me this night.
Comedian Hannibal Burress had a few food bloggy jokes. One about Halal food. I don’t remember if there was a punch line, but he said “halal” and it was funny because I know that is.
Then upstairs they had karaoke, where they kept giving us tequila shots with every PBR. It got nutz. Christa rocked some Heart and I got my Faith No More fix.
One more stop at San Loco, where it was the perfect ending to all those tequilas and PBR. An aluminum tray of Gringo-Mex Enchiladas (beef enchiladas smothered in beef chili and topped with shredded cheddar, onions and sour cream). It’s everything you’d think it would taste like when you see it.

Super Bowl abortion ad hype, move over. This is the most amazing thing I’ve seen. Tim Tebow battling my roommate Russ (from Justice of the Unicorns and his homemade food on my blog) as unicorns. By Panhandle Slim (aka Scott Stanton)

Preacher’s Kid
This is a video I made from the Woodstock camping trip last weekend, starring baby Ike.
We’re (Justice of the Unicorns) playing tonight at Bushwick Studio. Apparently there are two Bushwick Studios. Flip a coin? We’re doing that. And also next Friday at Coco’s 66 in Greenpoint.
Out on the Maxwell estate in Woodstock NY. Grass-fed sausages and burgers on the grill. Keg party at the Serv ce Station. Sweets by Lucky Chocolates. Music by Chris Maxwell, Drexel and the Bootleggers, Justice of the Unicorns, Tigers and Monkeys, Marcellus Hall and the Hostages, Les Soniques. Comedy by Craig Baldo & Bobby Tisdale. Back to tent city for s’mores and Makers by the campfire.
Next morning was the breakfast buffet at Family Restaurant Diner on Route 28 in Kingston. Baby Ike liked to eat lemons. The waitress was funny. There were three old ladies sharing one unlimited cup of coffee.
Thanks Chris & Kelly. Always a good time.
McKibbin Street Fair Block Party
