The Spotted Pig

My sister took me to The Spotted Pig. My first time. Was thinking about getting the Burger, but I kinda don’t like shoestring fries. We got a bunch of other shit though –Bacon-wrapped Dates, Deviled Eggs, Chicken Liver Toast, Sheep’s Milk Ricotta Gnudi, and the special –Milk Braised Pork Shoulder, which was too salty …but the small plates/appetizers ruled. The Chicken Liver Toast is the best dang thing. Ended it with the Banoffee Pie (Banana/Coffee). Too much food.

Next time, Chicken Liver Toast party …or maybe trying the burger.

Dish Southern Comfort Food (Charlotte, North Carolina)

I’ve posted snippets from the road, but now I’m ready to share our full-on adventures and photos from our Shonali Bhowmik 100 Oak’s Revival tour down South…

Day 2: We came into Charlotte and dropped our stuff off at Scott’s. He had some cute gogo dancers over for him to do their makeup for the Shiprock party at Snug Harbor. Meanwhile, the band and I went over to Dish for some good southern food. I don’t think anything was fried on the menu. I got the grilled liver platter. It was solid. We also had pimento cheese. I think that was the first time I had that. Mayonnaise and Cheese. Yep.

Chandni’s Goat Liver

This time I got Goat Liver and Eggplant from Chandni …the place where I happened to eat in front of 200 Muslim men praying towards me. It was similar to calf liver in texture and density. What’s great is that there’s no bones! …one of the few meat dishes there that doesn’t. I’d be scared if there were.
