Yesterday, we started off by going to the Yellow Lounge party in Soho. I think this event was about bringing International and Classical artists to big city hipsters. This was their first one in the U.S. …and Miss USA was there to welcome it all.
When she first walked by, I wasn’t sure it was her and was going to ask. But then I realized how stupid that question was, since she was wearing a big sash that said “Miss USA.”
I asked a few people and yep, she was the one I admired for answering the Transgender question at the pageant just a couple of weeks ago. I knew from that moment when I watched it on TV, I had to meet this girl. And there she was right in front of me. …That’s like the Secret.
Any other day before, I would have just hung out and watched from afar. But I’ve been reading Tim Tebow’s autobiography. Maybe only a few chapters so far, but I feel like it gave me the courage to walk up and talk to Miss USA. I couldn’t believe how easy it was. She seemed very humble when I congratulated her and talked about the transgender question. She also seemed to have held my hand a little too long when we were shaking, but I don’t know if it’s because I wasn’t letting go.
I’m glad I did it. It made my night. My friend Shonali does that all the time –walks up to talk to people. I should be more like Shonali …and Tebow.
They’ll be having more Yellow Lounge event soon –free music, complimentary drinks, Beauty Pageant winners. Like their Facebook page to be up to date. https://www.facebook.com/YellowLoungeUS
Afterwards Todd and I went to Loreley in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and ate this awesome Sausage Platter and Skewers.
