Lay’s Do Us A Flavor Chip Contest Review 2015

Sam brought in all four of this year’s Lay’s Do Us A Flavor flavor finalists: New York Reuben, Greektown Gyro, West Coast Truffle Fries, Southern Biscuits & Gravy.

Lay's 2015 Do Us A Flavor Chip Finalists

Here are my thoughts…

New York Reuben: Had a bit of rye bread flavor. Not sure I like rye bread. Why does anyone like rye bread?

Greektown Gyro: They were going for a Tzatziki sauce flavor. Kind of tastes like sour cream and chives chips, which is classic.
02 Lay's Greektown Gyro Chips

West Coast Truffle Fries: The group thought it smelled like dog food. I concur. I can see where they were going with some kind of truffle aroma, but I liked this the least.

Southern Biscuits & Gravy: Tastes like southern gravy with sausage. My favorite out of the group.

Pringles Cheeseburger Chips

Yes! The third and last tasting of the new limited time flavored Pringles Chips. We’ve had Pringles Cinnamon & Sugar, then Pringles White Chocolate Peppermint …and now Pringles Cheeseburger!

Whoa, this tastes like a cheeseburger. You can really taste the mustard and pickles. It’s amazing what a little seasoning powder can do. They should put this seasoning on shitty burgers. Make them taste more like real burgers.

This was the crowd favorite.

Pringles White Chocolate Peppermint Chips

Day 2 of the Pringles Challenge. Last time, we had the churro flavored Pringles Cinnamon & Sugar Chips. This time it’s the White Chocolate Peppermint Pringles. When pop them in your mouth, the smell hits your nose and the taste that touches your tongue like you’re about to eat candy. But it’s not candy …and then you taste the saltiness of the chip. It’s weird, but not bad weird. Just interesting.

Next will be the Pringles Cheeseburger Chips. We can’t wait.

I also found this can of Pussy energy drink in the office. I want to try it.

Pringles Cinnamon & Sugar Chips

Chris brought back several interesting flavored Pringles chips that he found at a Target in Philly. A gift to Sam. He’s a fan of this stuff. I guess also a gift to me too because I get to try them and blog them.

This day, we tested out the Cinnamon & Sugar flavored Pringles. Right when you pop them in your mouth, it really hits you like you are about to eat a holiday Cinnamon Sugar cookie …but it’s a salty potato chip. It’s interesting. I kind of like it. It’s like am I eating a holiday cookie or a potato chip? I don’t know.

I thought it was interesting that it looks like the Copyright info is written in what I think is Arabic. I’ve never seen anything like that. My best guess is that it’s saying it’s Kosher or Halal or something.

UPDATE: Oh yeah. I meant to say “churro!” It tastes like a churro. I forgot. Not Holiday cookie. Although it sort of does. I meant churro! That’s what you get when you blog a few days later and drunk.

More to flavors to come!

Ruffles Molten Hot Wings Flavored Chips

My band was playing a party for Tom Tom Magazine and Wayfarers Studio, when we saw this bag of Ruffles Molten Hot Wings Flavored Chips at the nearby bodega. The packaging is awesome and to the point. I was hesitant to get them because I’m watching my figure, so Pat bought them for me. I’m not sure how that helps, but I thank him.

The tasted like buffalo wings. Not bad, but I wish they were even more packed with flavor and spiciness like the picture on the bag looks like. Well, great packaging.

The bands we played with were pretty cool. The Electric Junkyard Gamelon Band played all these handmade instruments made out of junk. I was impressed. And The Suzan was this rad all-girl Japanese band. Their drummer would kick your ass. I like how their business card has the http and their second facebook address scratched out.

Buffalo Nickel Wingers Potato Snacks

Football has just started up and now my weekends are ruined. Tied up with Gator football on Saturdays and keeping up with my Kenan is Greedy Smurf Fantasy league on Sundays. I found these potato chip snacks at C-Town, shaped like little chicken wings. They had them a few weeks ago, but wasn’t impressed until I saw this bag with a Heat Index of 3 out of 5 …the Nacho Chimichanga. Previously, only Heat Index 1. For Week 1 of the NFL, this is a must have.

They taste alright, similar to BBQ Pringles. Crispy and hollow on the inside. Two thin shells glued together to create the chicken wing shape. I don’t feel the heat. Bring on the 5! Go Tebow!
