Free Chick-fil-A in NYC July 9th!

Friday July 9th is Cow Appreciation Day and Chick-fil-A is giving away 750 chicken sandwiches in NYC 10am-1pm on their double decker bus. Follow their Twitter for hints. Or I guess you can find them exactly on FourSquare. Here’s hoping I get lucky and it’s right outside my work on an air conditioned sidewalk. Otherwise, I’m going to have to redeem that NYU Chick-express sandwich my roommate owes me.

UPDATE: 1st 300 sandwiches at Natural History Museum @ 11am. Show up early for tickets. And probably a stop in Midtown.

Everyone else outside of NY, you can dress up as a cow at your Chick-fil-A. Fully dressed gets a free meal. Partially dressed gets a free entree. You can download and printout some masks on their site – http://www.cowappreciationday.com/

The Pepsi Refresh Project

Today Pepsi is launching the Pepsi Refresh Project, where they’re giving away up to $1.3 million monthly to fund projects with a positive impact on communities. You submit the ideas, you vote, you join on Facebook. It reminds me of the Chase Community Giving program going around Facebook as well. This concept of social network marketing meets corporate sponsorship of charities is interesting. Think about how you get free content on your favorite sites like Gizmodo or Hulu and only in return, you just have to give up some attention to sponsoring ads. Here you sit through advertisement (in this case, being constantly reminded of Pepsi or Chase) and you can do something good in the world. That’s a trade-off well worth my attention.

You on a NFL Road Trip in a 2010 Ford Taurus!

The kind folks at Social Media Group that lent me a Lincoln MKZ to food blog with here, here and here sent me an email about this promotion where they are putting football fans in a new Ford Taurus and sending them on a weekend road trip to a NFL game. “To be an applicant, you must love everything football as well as participate with social media activities such as blogging, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, etc.” I wish I could go, but it’s hard to find a chauffeur that’s willing to paint their face. National Waffle Day with Wafel & Dinges Truck

This sounds pretty cool because it’ll be right next to my work. This coming Monday 8/24/2009 the Wafel & Dinges Truck is celebrating National Waffle Day by giving out free waffles for one hour (11:30am-12:30pm) and free dinges (toppings) all day long. I’m curious about their BBQ pulled pork wafel. Too bad that pork doesn’t count as a topping. Warn my co-workers or con them into picking me up a free waffle?

The truck will be Fifth Avenue btw 23rd and 22nd Street (Flatiron) NYC this Waffel Monday.
