Pizza from Wings To Go
Rik asked Jody, Brendan and I to be the backup band in Novel’s new music video, shot in Hoboken, New Jersey. After a hard day’s night, we looked for the last scraps of food we could find. Wings to Go was just closing and we picked up their last slices. They laughed at us when we took photos. Shit, the one guy in the photo looks just like Kumar. It was okay food, but tasted good because we were starvin. Hoboken’s cool but seems like it’s hard to find late night grub around the corner.

Rik’s Sprite Commercial
I recently saw the Rik Cordero Sprite commercial during the NBA Finals. And it’s now up on Youtube.
I think I’m invited back soon to try Nancy’s new Turkey & Kale soup. Hopefully, Rik makes another deep dish or lasagna …or maybe deep dish lasagna? Or else I’m going to go to Medieval Times!
Easter at Rik & Nancy’s
Dang. Rik’s starring in a new Sprite commercial that aired last night during American Idol. I joined him and the family for Easter dinner where he showed me a rough cut of it. It’s really rad. Cheerleaders, kungfu guys and maybe a dolphin splashing into his head. Apparently Drake is another artist that’s doing the new Sprite Spark campaign. I felt pretty stupid because I asked who Drake was and still couldn’t figure it out after I had just seen him perform on the Grammys.
Nancy’s aunt prepared a lot of food for us. I was so stuffed, but couldn’t stop eating. Then Rik brought out his lasagna to top it off. I think he needed redemption from his doughy deep dish pizza pie last time. It was really good, Rik. Actually I liked the pizza too, but the lasagna was traditionally better.
I learned a lot of stuff that day. I learned a ton about pennies from Brady, learned the awesomeness of Gentlemen Broncos from Rik, and learned who Drake was from Hannah …he’s from Degrassi.
I can’t find the Rik Cordero/Sprite commercial yet, but here’s the Drake one that I see Rik co-directed.
OTT Thai Cuisine
After the Humble Seed video shoot last week, we had got grabbed some Thai food around the corner. Went to OTT based on Christa & Jody’s recommendation. The empty place seems a little more traditional Thai style looking than a place that has a DJ. $6.95 lunch special with soup or salad is a pretty good deal, especially for also being on the weekend. Rik and I forgot to reminisce about Thai Todd.

Shabu Shabu & Deep Dish Pizza
Took a trip to Jersey to work on some music with Rik & Nancy. I almost thought about stopping by Medieval Times to food blog, but I’m glad I was fed by my gracious hosts instead.
Nancy made Shabu Shabu, which was great and now I want to get a hot pot. It reminded me of my first Christmas in New York. My co-worker, Crystal, invited me and a few other co-workers for Shabu-Shabu. Everyone kept using their chopsticks to pick out of the hot pot, but I noticed Crystal kept trying to give me other utensils to pick food out. I was drunk and insisted on using my chopsticks. The next day I realize why she did that. I had a big cold sore on my lip. I kept praying no one would get my sore. When we got back to work after the holidays, I saw Takashi with his own herpe. Uh-oh.
Rik was working on his Deep Dish Pizza recipe for dinner. He was really excited. Sausage, onions, fresh mozzarella and basil. He regrettably used too much pizza dough in the casserole dish. It was super thick and doughy, but I thought it was pretty good in a pizza version of chicken & dumplings kinda way. I think it could be a new dish.
Rik & Nancy kept feeding me food and small bottles of plum wine all day. It was like visiting my parents. It was awesome. Medieval Times, till next time.
