Battle of the Sushi Boats in Greenpoint

We finally cracked the code on Sushi boats. Where a Sushi Boat for Three at Sakura 6 is cheaper than a Sushi Boat for Two at Sapporo Haru, you actually get a ton more food at Sapporo Haru in the boat for two.

SUSHI BOAT COMPARISON

It’s funny, because Todd and I have been eating numerous sushi boats all over and we always thought Sakura 6 was the best. But last week during the 4th of July, Sakura 6 was unfortunately closed. So we went to Sapporo Haru and got a sushi boat for two, but it was surprisingly huge. I thought they made a mistake and made one for four. So yesterday, we went to Sakura 6 for a boat for three. We went through it quick, but still satisfied.

Then somehow we decided to go to get another sushi boat at Sapporo Haru. I think it was all the free sake talking. We were like let’s just get a boat for two to share. We really just wanted to drink more. But it was insane how big it came out again. It wasn’t a fluke. Sure, it costs more ($55 vs a boat for 3 at Sakura 6 for $49), but it’s way so much more food and it looks better. I guess you get one less soup or salad. But the salad is so much bigger there too.

Both places give you free unlimited hot sake. Maybe Sakura 6 seems a little more generous. But I feel like Sapporu Haru is the clear winner in this boat race.

Dang, that was pretty stupid eating two sushi boats in a row.

Sakura 6 – Free Unlimited Hot Sake

I’m addicted to free hot sake. We went to Sakura 6 in Greenpoint, where I first learned that free sake existed. There’s no real minimum to spend on food to get free sake. I think just have to buy enough, like an entree.

Todd and I split a sushi boat for two, which was a little cheaper than Sapporo Haru per person. It was good. But honestly, I don’t know if I really paid attention because of all the free sake. And they were super generous. You didn’t have to ask them for more sake. They came by to check the bottle themselves.

This place is so awesome, we came back the next week with friends. We meant to keep track of how many free sakes, but we kept forgetting to count. Too many sakes to remember.
