Battle of the Sushi Boats in Greenpoint

We finally cracked the code on Sushi boats. Where a Sushi Boat for Three at Sakura 6 is cheaper than a Sushi Boat for Two at Sapporo Haru, you actually get a ton more food at Sapporo Haru in the boat for two.

SUSHI BOAT COMPARISON

It’s funny, because Todd and I have been eating numerous sushi boats all over and we always thought Sakura 6 was the best. But last week during the 4th of July, Sakura 6 was unfortunately closed. So we went to Sapporo Haru and got a sushi boat for two, but it was surprisingly huge. I thought they made a mistake and made one for four. So yesterday, we went to Sakura 6 for a boat for three. We went through it quick, but still satisfied.

Then somehow we decided to go to get another sushi boat at Sapporo Haru. I think it was all the free sake talking. We were like let’s just get a boat for two to share. We really just wanted to drink more. But it was insane how big it came out again. It wasn’t a fluke. Sure, it costs more ($55 vs a boat for 3 at Sakura 6 for $49), but it’s way so much more food and it looks better. I guess you get one less soup or salad. But the salad is so much bigger there too.

Both places give you free unlimited hot sake. Maybe Sakura 6 seems a little more generous. But I feel like Sapporu Haru is the clear winner in this boat race.

Dang, that was pretty stupid eating two sushi boats in a row.

Sapporo Haru – Free Unlimited Hot Sake

We went out to Sapporo Haru for sushi and their free unlimited hot sake. You just have to buy a minimum of $10 of food per person to get the deal. That’s pretty easy.

While waiting for Todd and Elissa, they asked us if we wanted something to drink while we waited. We said, nah, that’s fine… We were going to get the free sake. And they brought it out while we waited.

Then we ordered a Sapporo Haru specialty roll. It’s their namesake. Shrimp tempura fish roe cucumber inside eel avocado on top $12.95. I liked it a lot.

When the whole party got there, we decided on the Love Boat Sushi for Four $75 –A huge boat with lots of different sushi, sashimi and rolls (see pics!). It came with miso soup or salad. Even though we were five, it was a lot of food. Well I guess we also had that roll earlier too.

And we did get plenty of free hot sake. It came out to $25 per person after tax and tip. Such a good deal. And I guess you can even get cheaper as long as you hit the $10 minimum. It’s like why do people go to bars when they can do this? You also get free oranges for dessert.

Afterwards, we went home and drank free unlimited soju and then went to a party where there was unlimited tequila. That’s a good deal too.
