Red Star Bar Food

We went to Red Star Bar in Greenpoint for a Sunday night comedy show. This is when we saw Reggie Watts three times in one week.

I’ve been curious about the wings here since they hold the annual Best Wings In Brooklyn Competition here. So I was glad to see that Elissa ordered the wings. Their Raspberry Wings won a People’s Choice last year. I don’t know. They were okay and sweet. I think I like their regular wings better though.

The Pub Fries look cool with a heavy load of melted cheddar cheese, bacon, scallions and sour cream. I think it needed some sauce though. Like gravy. Amirite?

The sliders were the best of the order. I liked dipping the slider in the cheese sauce.

The next Best Wings In Brooklyn Competition is a month away –March 16th. Get there early. The lines were long last time.

White Castle Crispy Jalapeño Cheese Sliders

I’ve been on the record a few times to say that the White Castle Jalapeño Cheese Burgers is the best thing at White Castle. I love them. Those jalapeno cheese slices give them so much flavor.

Now they are offering Crispy Jalapeños to top it off. I’ve never seen anything like these little crunchies. They look like the run-off of fried pickles. But they are a pretty good topping. Gives the slider some crunchy texture and really packs more heat. Probably 2-3x more spicy than a regular Jalapeño Cheese Slider.

You can also get these Crispy Jalapeños topped on Chicken Ring Sliders, Breakfast Sandwiches and Cheese Fries.

Krystal Burgers

Day 8 of the Shonali tour: Dang, I hadn’t had Krystal burgers since probably the 80’s. We pulled over for gas next to these two huge fireworks stores in Whiteside, Tennessee. Amy ran over to Krystal and brought back a sack of sliders. Jeff seemed to really like the smell of the bag even though he’s vegan.

We couldn’t get the Dancing Penguin augmented reality app (on the slider box) to work on our iPhone or Android, but I think this is how it’s supposed to look…
